My 66 beetle was under 4 feet of salt water during Hurricane Katrina. The engine had salt water in it for a couple weeks and it ate the magnesium case from the inside out. It also was seized up tight. So I had a new engine built:

It has a new AS41 Case and every part is new with the exception of the heater boxes
