Do you have bad heater channels? Are they all rusted out? Want to replace them? Its not really as hard as you think. I replaced a heater channel on my 69 Beetle and I wrote an article on how I did it. Safety is the most important thing when doing a job like this … so be careful. Also, the article I wrote is how I did it. It is by no means an absolute or how-to for you to complete the job. That will depend on your skills and your techniques. That’s just a little disclaimer in case you try what I did and you get hurt or screw up your car.

over 14,000 hits on the heater channel replacement article!!
I have gotten alot of questions and thank you’s for the article. Unfortunately the car is gone now. But I still maintain the pages on the heater channel replacement. Below is a link to the article on my website

This is my 1966 Beetle. It was actually badly damaged in Hurricane Katrina. It was under 4 feet of salt water. The engine is trashed (new one has been built). The transaxle has a hole eaten through it. My 1969 Beetle was destroyed also. It is gone, but I did a heater channel replacement on it, the how I did it is still on my web site.

The trans axle had water salt water in it also and it ended up eating a hole in it from the inside out. A new transaxle is being built and the brakes and electrical harness also need to be replaced as all the wires are corroded and the connectors have turned green and are falling off.
