Air-cooled is Proof Men are Simple!

February 1st, 2007

With the world being as complex as it is, I strongly believe men are the simpliest aspect of its complexities. Think about it, you are a single guy, you own your own place, then you find yourself in a relationship. One thing leads to the next and you are living together and married. This is when things change from pure and simple to difficult and complex. Out of no where, you start hearing chatter about how the house needs to be restored. So, you take out a loan and you start remodeling your house for the first time since you bought it. The world has now become super complex. The house that you once owned turned in to a debt that you have to maintain or risk loosing because it is now really owned by the bank to secure the remodeling loan.
Your belove Beetle that has driven you and your date (now your wife) to the best of best movies. The Beetle that had driven both of you almost around the world and she expressed her love for doing such great traveling. Now that she is NOW living in your place and occupying 70% of your space, it is time to sell the Beetle and get something NEW. The complaints start to roll in about how hot the car is during the summer or how unsafe it would be if you had a baby. If you think about how simple this car is and why we love it so much, you would by default conclude that we (US MEN) are a simple speices. When VW built the suspension of the Beetle, they didn’t want to build some crazy complex suspension system. A simple solution was to put the suspension partly in the springs of the seat. Simple solution for a simple car and US men appreciates it the most!

Damn it! I will not sell my Beetle. Let me be SIMPLE WOMAN! :-)

Volkswagen Eos 2007

October 29th, 2006

EosHas anyone outside of the United States driven this car as of yet? I have read a few reviews on this car, but it seems like everything that has been written about it has been inconsistent. When I am looking for views of many products, the first site that comes to mind is C|net. I thought the car looked really sharp, clean in style and a pretty decent design by Volkswagen. They have plans of v6 @ 250 HP. It has been a while since they’ve come out with a new product. Unfortunately, C|net really dog this car and one of their long time readers was really upset by their inaccuracy.

And

I would really like the opinion of a person who has driven this car. I’m looking for a daily driver and it must be a VW when I am not driving or restoring one of my Vintage cars. Please add your comments. Should I wait?

Parts Identification

October 22nd, 2006

I have been working on my project for a couple of years and I’ve pulled off a few parts I have no idea where they came from. Has any Volksblog.com readers ever seen these parts before?

The Enemy (Rain)

September 5th, 2006
Rocket Bullet #2It has been raining for the past few weeks in the North East (NYC). All the Volkswagen shows are getting hit hard this year by rainfall. I am planning toRocket Beetle #1 go out to Bug-O-rama #5 in Las Vagas at the end of the month (September 31, 2006). This will be my first mid-west VW show. I was surfing the web and ran across this craziest New Beetle I’ve ever saw.

Aerosol Paint Box Build

August 29th, 2006

After painting a lot of small parts with aresol paint, I realized that paint, even spraying a small amountPaint Box 1 can coat your garge quicker than snow can cover the streets in Montreal, Canada. At that point, I decided to build a paint box that would decrease the amount of surface cleaning I had to do in my shop. All of the materials can be purchased from Home Depot or Lowe’s Hardware stores. You can also support your local hardware and lumber yards if you have that Mid-America spirit (save the small business), but it will cost you a few dollars more. I spent a total of $31.oo for the supplies and 45 minutes labor time. I think I will save this much in less frustration during clean-up time. The supplies I purchased to build the box are:

  • 1 - Boran Econonmy Ventilation Fan (model 688) $12.00
  • 1 - 1″ x 6″ x 8′ wood $7.95
  • 1 - 1″ x 2 “x 8′ wood $249
  • 1 - 2″ x 3″x 20″ wood (to hold fan on center) (Found)
  • 1 - 20″ x 20″x 1″ Filter ($5.99
  • 1 - back of four pipe mounts (hold the filter) $2.95
  • 1- 3/4 wire tube (Found)

If you take a look at the front and rear photos, you can see how it was put together. If you are working in a shop then I’m sure you can figure out how to mounted this together. This is just my Paint Box 2way. You can be more creatived and even make it cheaper. I hope this inspires you to build a paint box so that your VW project space is much cleaner and you would inhale less dangerous fumes.
