Aerosol Paint Box Build
Tuesday, August 29th, 2006After painting a lot of small parts with aresol paint, I realized that paint, even spraying a small amount
can coat your garge quicker than snow can cover the streets in Montreal, Canada. At that point, I decided to build a paint box that would decrease the amount of surface cleaning I had to do in my shop. All of the materials can be purchased from Home Depot or Lowe’s Hardware stores. You can also support your local hardware and lumber yards if you have that Mid-America spirit (save the small business), but it will cost you a few dollars more. I spent a total of $31.oo for the supplies and 45 minutes labor time. I think I will save this much in less frustration during clean-up time. The supplies I purchased to build the box are:
- 1 - Boran Econonmy Ventilation Fan (model 688) $12.00
- 1 - 1″ x 6″ x 8′ wood $7.95
- 1 - 1″ x 2 “x 8′ wood $249
- 1 - 2″ x 3″x 20″ wood (to hold fan on center) (Found)
- 1 - 20″ x 20″x 1″ Filter ($5.99
- 1 - back of four pipe mounts (hold the filter) $2.95
- 1- 3/4 wire tube (Found)
If you take a look at the front and rear photos, you can see how it was put together. If you are working in a shop then I’m sure you can figure out how to mounted this together. This is just my
way. You can be more creatived and even make it cheaper. I hope this inspires you to build a paint box so that your VW project space is much cleaner and you would inhale less dangerous fumes.
