It seems asthough rust really loves my car. I finished sanding the top of the hood a little under a year ago but the underside of the hood is a complete mess. The underside of the fenders and hood are both very coverd in peeling rust ( argh). I am using a angle grinder but with a sanding attachements on the parts that are flat because on the parts that are curved their is a much bigger chance of the angle grinder going out of controle. I am using a headmask and good gloves to make sure I don't ... Read more >> |

Today I finished ( finnally) sanding the Fenders. I think the person who owned Swishy Hissy Moo prior to me didn't want to take the time to get new fenders or even put anti rusting spray on them. Only one of the 4 fenders didn't have a ammense ammount of rust. I am hopping to get the fenders primerd this comming week because the floors and heater channells will be welded next week and the weeks after that I am hopping to get it painted Metallic Magenta ( hows that going to look :-) ! Tomarow I am hopping to ... Read more >> |

I have been sanding the fenders. I hope they will be ready for primer in the next couple of days. I am hoping to paint them in the next month because this project has to be done sometime in March. I am now seeing how much this project is really going to cost but I know it will be worth every penny in the end, I will add pictures later. Since it has been raining and its cold I am holding out on paintin the body till the next couple of weeks. I will upload pictures of the painting process ... Read more >> |

By now i have more than a year driving my car, when we assembled the engine, we reused as many parts as we can, sometimes this is good, sometimes not, in this case it wasnt so bad, but not really good. When we sended the heads to be reconstrcted, we discovered that they had something that in spanish we call "guias sobremedida", in english is something like bigger valve guides, cause my engine was a refurbished unit from Volkswagen, they fixed the case and the heads, in the valves guides case, they made the holes were it fits bigger, thats ... I am looking to have this car restored. I was going to do it myself, but I know very well, it will turn into a 10 year project. I'm still looking for a few parts which includes wheels, rear upper seat and running boards. E-mail me if you have any of these items for a 1956 Oval.

I am looking for body work advice for an 1956 Oval Window. I noticed the tail of the oval that I purchased a few years ago hangs low. After taking off the fenders, I realized that the car was impacted in the rear. Under the fenders, there are two bends behind the wheels. I guess a car rammed into the rear bumpers at one time cause this to buckle in a bit. I am looking for suggestions on how to fix this problem. I've included pictures of both sides.
Thank you for your comments.

Just when you thought most VW parts were interchangeable, some install will completely reminds you that they are not. I purchased a nice set of chromed peanut turning signal from a VW show for my 1958 project. Although the Hella lenses were pretty cracked up, the chrome was in great shape. I purchased it from one of those guys that have everything setup completely and nicely with a yellow or green price tag strapped to it. I am sure those type swappers exist in every Volks show across America. Presentation = more money. :-) This also translate into an easy ... Read more >> |

Just check Craig's List. I found one of the weirdest Beetle's I've ever seen going for $16,500. I guess the prices was reduced.
