Just when you think Airkewled.com has created or done just about everything impossible to do with a Veedub, they always seem to suprise me. I was glossing their site and I ran across their 18" chromed out bones. Last night I had dreams of transforming my rusty Bug to a lean street ride that turned heads just about every corner I turned in New York City. Great work Airkewled!!!
This picture is property of Airkewled, but I don't think they'll mind me swiping it talk to good stuff about it.

Is there anyone running these bad boys currently. I ... Read more >>

Like i said in the past post, when i finished the car, i made some changes to the engine, i did it cause i really liked the car's apearance, but not the engine. I had some pieces that didn't belong to it, like the pulley, had some problems with the dinamo, etc, and looking at internet i decided to get a dual carb setup. One think i really like about my car is that it looks old, thats why i wanted a pre 67 car, and i tried to restore it originally, at least so much as i can, so ... Read more >>

In this post, i'll show you some pictures of my engine's assembliy, some months after i finished the car, i made some improvements, at the same time i changed the trans, now im saving money to buy parts, im planing a 2110 if it's possible.
The car didn't came with the original 40Hp engine, it had instead a 1500, this engine was refurbished by volkswagen in Germany, i know that cause in the serial number it has a "X" at the end, it means is a reconstructed engine, looking at the serials i found that the case was originally for a ... Volksblog.com will no longer display remote images on the frontpage of the portal. This is one part of our plan to increase the performance of the portal's introduction to your blogs. If you are unfamiliar with local and remote images, let me explain. Remote images are images that are linked from another site. While it is OK for you to have them in your blog, we have chosen not to include it in the general area. The performance of Volksblog.com will be at the mercy of the remote site. Local images are files you upload ... Read more >> |

I had to post some previous pictures of my car before it was painted. I stumbled on these pictures and thought I'd share them. I stripped all the paint of the car and had it taken to German Vintage and Performance down in GA. I think they recently move to Northern Florida.
This is the Painter of my car. His name is Corey and he is located in North Florida.

Our randomly selected winner, with an active blog is Benjamin Watson (www.volksblog.com/volkswatson). He is this year's VolksBlog.com Thanksgiving winner of a new reproduction Jr. Coca-Cola cooler. We think this would be and excellent addition to his current restoration project. Benjamin, thank you for contributing to your blog and ultimately helping the Volkswagen Community with your words of wisdom.
Sincerely,
-Mark Whitsett

This past weekend, the weather was gorgeous in Texas, so I got to work on the pans once again. I finally got the scraps off, and got the pans fitted. Now comes the welding...
I used a modified version of the BugMe video pan replacement, so this will look familiar to some. I first of all I ground all the temp paint off the new pans AND around the lip of the chassis so the weld would have something to "stick" to. The pans were fitted into place, and I did have to trim off a little in places to get ... Read more >>

Recently I was wondering how I could do my pimp thing and still be true to the Volkswagen scene. Here is the answer to my pondering; create at pimped out Veedub. I think the creator of this love bug had my same thoughts years ago. The only thing that I would have changed would have been sequencers along the sides of the convertible. Everything else is befitting getting out of this ride and collecting your cash from all your street employees. :-)

First i have to say that im not an expert, this is what i learned looking for a better trans in my 63, and here in Venezuela the cars are not exactly the same as USA or Europe.
I'll be talking about trans from 61-62 ahead, the older ones are so diferent, they aren't synchronized in the first change, and the oldest aren't at all, so this is for the "modern" ones.
The 63 volkswagen type 1 is one of the fisrt years with the new transmission, it doesn't split in two anymore, now it is just one piece and the gears ... Read more >>
